Site Update, or Moving day, pt2

Hello Hello. Yet again I have moved my blog. The first move, which seems like a life ago now, was from the MidAtlantic Horror site to here. Now yet again. A small move, from jacobhaddon.com/blog to jacobhaddon.com, it will no doubt bring hours of frustration and countless broken links.

But here it is. The main reason for the move is simple: content. The blog was the content of my site, and I felt that it needed to be more central to the whole page. Now it is all here, my ramblings, my stories, and anything else I decide to post.

No doubt as well that I will be tweeking the appearance and colors of the place. But for now, and some time I suspect, this location is the new home.

So welcome, again.

A Monthin the Life, August

(I wrote this on September 1… blame my life schedule for its delay. Oh and Ron Dickie)

Ah August, you were an adventure, no? Just last week we had an earthquake, a tornado and a hurricane. Exciting times, no doubt.

Which I think is a Chinese curse of some sorts.

The creativity was still there, however. Pictures, writing, webpage design, whatever was on my mind that day I tried. And I got most of the days, I believe.

I did spend a bit of time playing with Aperture to see about this whole post processing thing. I found pictures from years ago and ran them through some filters and found colors and clarity that I didn’t know they had.

Oh and this? It is called Inkling and I wants it. *makes golum noises*

Monthly Music, June and July

Yeah Yeah, it is August.

There is an accidental theme this time: Boats and Rum.

Alestorm – Back Through Time

Scottish Pirate Metal. Just watch.

Genticorum – Nagez Rameurs

Let’s start by saying this is all in French. Genticorum is a French Canadian band who plays a traditional type of music called Quebecois. This is a mixture of Celtic (Irish and Britianny) music with traditional colonial songs. Despite singing in French, the songs will sound familiar as their style is similar to folk songs of the Appalachians. Great music, and great fiddling too.

Apparently Nagez Rameurs means “Pull it together, rowers!” Most of the songs on this album are about travel and tell some sort of story. I did find out at their show that the guy who sat at the front of the canoe and sang songs while they traveled the rivers of the new world got paid more than the ones who actually rowed. Now, he did have to know a lot of songs. This is like that long road trip- if you only bring two CD’s you are going to not be happy.

If you like more traditional celtic music, or American music, or hell, just music, check it out.
